Holud and mehndi, photographed in the middle of the fun

These are the loudest, brightest, most joyful days of a wedding. They move fast and nothing happens twice. We work close, light and quick, so the turmeric, music and family chaos end up in your gallery exactly as they happened.

Two events, two moods

Holud and mehndi often get squeezed into a single afternoon of coverage. They deserve better. Each has its own rhythm and its own moments, and we plan for both.

Holud

The holud is pure colour: marigolds, yellow saris, turmeric on every cheek. The best photographs come from staying close to the stage, then turning round to catch the families watching.

We photograph both the bride’s and the groom’s holud when they happen on different days, with consistent editing so the two galleries feel like one story.

Mehndi

Mehndi is about hands, patterns and long conversations. It is slower and more intimate, with music and singing that build through the evening.

We photograph the artist at work, close-ups of the finished design, and the friends and cousins who come and go all evening.

Small details, big colour

Turmeric stains, flower jewellery, the bowl of mehndi paste, the decorated stage before anyone sits on it. These details fade quickly and they matter later, when the album is being designed.

Stage lighting at evening events is often strongly coloured. We balance it carefully in the edit so skin tones stay true while the warmth of the evening remains.

How to prepare for holud and mehndi coverage

A little planning goes a long way on days this busy. These are the things I ask every family to sort out in advance.

Planning your holud or mehndi?

Send the dates and whether they are separate for each family. I will tell you what coverage makes sense and what it costs.
